Hudson Y Members triumphed at Minnesota senior games

The Twin Cities metro area hosted the Minnesota Senior Games in August, a weekend of sports competitions for people ages 50 and up. Several YMCA members, including those from the Hudson, WI and River Falls, WI YMCAs competed—and volunteered.

Congratulations to the following individuals and teams that have qualified to enter the National Senior Games next July, which will also be held in the metro area.

  • Cycling: Chuck Donnelly placed fourth in the 75-79 age group for 20K and 5K road races, and YMCA Group Exercise instructor, Carl Rogan, placed fourth in the 20K road race for ages 70-74.
  • Doubles Pickleball: Lu Lueck and Mary Bednarowski won fourth place in the 60-64 age group, and Mary Ellen Boyum and Beverly Shepard won fourth place in the 65-69 age group.
  • Swimming: Joan (Jo) Pierce took the gold medal in the 200-yard freestyle race for ages 75-79
  • Tennis: Jo Pierce and Pat Klass won the silver medal for teams ages 70-75
