Teen Specialty Camps

Developing leadership qualities and abilities are important life-long ingredients. Our leadership camps develop the whole person — spirit, mind, and body — through a variety of service projects, hands-on activities and team building exercises. Our leaders of tomorrow begin with our youth of today!

Teen Challenge Course

For campers entering grades 6 – 8 in fall, 2017

Campers strike out on a bold adventure! They’ll test their strength, strategy, and skill against our high ropes challenge course, Team Initiative course and climbing wall. Participants learn about basic climbing, belay techniques, knot tying, and climbing safety. Fun team challenge initiatives will aid in a successful climb. Two to three hours a day are spent on the Challenge Course at Sacajawea and YMCA Camp St. Croix with the remainder of the day filled with Traditional Day Camp activities.

Teen Fishing Camp

Entering grades 6 – 8 in fall, 2017

Gone fishin’! Campers are out and about each day visiting local rivers and lakes for shoreline fishing fun using the catch-and-release method. Campers can bring their own pole and tackle, or we can provide them.

Teen Arts & Drama Camp

Entering grades 6 – 8 in fall, 2017

Campers unleash their inner star power in this camp! They’ll create trendy eco-art and do other fun craft projects. They’ll take to the stage to learn and perform music numbers, participate in improv and act up in theater skits, too. They will learn from staff of the Black Dirt Theater, our local theater company. Plus, throughout the week, extra day camp activities keep their creative batteries well charged.

Entering grades 7 – 9 in fall, 2017

Rise to the challenge of Leaders-in-Training camp and discover the leadership qualities within you! LITs will learn and develop camp skills needed to lead camper activities, including personal development through confidence building and responsibility management, as well as group development through activity planning and event organization. Then, you’ll have opportunities to shadow counselors of younger campers and assist staff in their camp activities. There will also be plenty of time to hang out with friends-new and old! Come experience camp from a whole new perspective!
