To get started as a volunteer with the YMCA.

What happens after I submit my volunteer application online?

Once your application has been submitted online, you will receive a confirmation email. This email will state that your application has been received. Your application will be directly sent to the hiring YMCA location. A volunteer coordinator will call you to discuss opportunities and next steps.

In order to complete my application, do I need to create a username/password?

Yes, in order to complete your application, you must enter your email address and create a password for your profile.

What is the age requirement to volunteer at the Y?

All volunteers must be at least 12 years of age. All volunteer roles have an age requirement and ages to volunteer in roles may vary.

Is there a volunteer orientation?

Yes! All volunteers must complete the online orientation and bring a signed certificate and waiver to the volunteer location the first time you volunteer.

I am having problems understanding how to apply, who can I contact?

Do I get a free membership?

We do not offer complimentary memberships for volunteers.

How many hours do I have to volunteer?

Volunteer commitments vary per location and by opportunity. You may wish to discuss your availability with the local YMCA volunteer coordinator.

Is there a dress code? What should I wear?

Closed-toe shoes are required at all volunteer locations. A volunteer shirt will be provided on your first day of volunteering.

Do you accept court ordered community service?

We do not accept court ordered community service.
