Each year we receive many letters, emails, postcards and holiday cards asking us to donate, to give, to impact the organizations that we have somehow affiliated ourselves with. Yet, more often than not, we recycle these words of request not due to lack of care or desire, but the lack of enthusiasm or personal connection. We pause maybe, before tossing these numerous requests into the recycling bin, remembering the organization or reflecting on the need, and that pause is our hearts reflection on generosity. As we come into a season that causes us to reflect more than others think about what generosity means to you. It can be as simple as opening a door, or a deep as giving an organ to save a life. No matter how you give, research tells us that generosity is good for us all.
