Long Boarder Trail, by Dorothy Slater:
Our long border began in a hurry with a 480 rod (1.5) mile portage at Stuart River, with a big thunderstorm and lots of mud! We had 6 girls and 2 leaders, and spent 9 days canoeing and portaging through the Boundary Waters to end at Snowbank Lake. Our group traveled with determination through many days of clouds and rain, bringing their own light to the trip by singing songs, creating dance and comedy routines, and cooking delicious food. Some highlights of our trip were swimming, portaging the famous "Basswood Mile", and creating true lasting friendships. We are all so grateful that we got to go on this trip and partake in such a special tradition!
