Featuring Widji alumni Kristen Poppleton and her work with Climate Generation, A Will Steger Legacy
Thursday, January 23
6:00 - 8:00 pm
Urban Growler Brewing Company, St. Paul
Reunite with Widji friends at our 5th annual Winter Warm Up! This event highlights the inspiring work of Widji alumni and their positive work with the environment. This year we'll be gathering at the Urban Growler in St. Paul, the first women-owned microbrewery in Minnesota!
Our speaker will be Kristen Iverson Poppleton, Director of Programs for Climate Generation: A Will Steger Legacy.
At Climate Generation Kristen develops a vision for and provides strategic coordination, oversight and support for all Climate Generation programs focusing on youth, educators, and community engagement. Kristen's experiences in the natural world, beginning at the age of 3 at Camp du Nord, through her Voyageur trip at Camp Widjiwagan were formative in the development of her environmental ethic. Kristen will reflect on her experiences with the camps, discuss her critical work on climate change and offer opportunities for the audience to engage in their own climate change solutions.
Widji will be providing appetizers for the evening and attendees can choose from a great selection of craft beers and non-alcoholic drinks.
- 6-7pm: Social Hour and Widji/Climate Trivia
- 7-7:15pm: Welcome and update on Widjiwagan
- 7:15-7:45pm: Kristen Poppleton Presentation
- 7:45-8pm: Questions and more socializing
Cost: $20 Adults | Free for young alums
Our hope it to connect with many generations of Widji alum. This is not a fundraising event.
Through the generous donation of the space from Urban Growler and additional financial assistance from a Widji Board Member, this event is free for young alums! Not sure if you qualify as a young alum? No worries, anyone who wants to attend, but $20 seems like a bit much for a night out can consider themselves a young alum. We look forward to seeing you at the event.
