Before & After Care
The Downtown YMCA provides care for all public and private elementary schools in the surrounding metro area. Families are responsible for coordinating bus transportation with the school district to the Downtown YMCA. Safety is our top priority and your child will be assisted on and off the bus by a designated Y staff person.

School Release Days
When school is out, the Y is in! The Minneapolis Downtown Y offers a full-day recreational program for school age children available during school release days and vacation breaks.

Our program creates a safe, fun-filled environment where school age kids actively stretch their mind and body. Through age-appropriate activities, arts and crafts, group games, sports and field trips, kids learn about caring, honesty, respect and responsibility under the guidance of our YMCA staff.

Wonderful outdoor and indoor spaces at the Y give kids a wide variety of options. Intriguing daily themes guide engaging activities and give kids topics to look forward to such as cooking projects or special interest clubs. Themes and field trip schedules are available through the branch or school site.
