Summer Programs

For the summer, children in preschool through eighth grade can enjoy a variety of enrichment programs.

Day Camp Manitou

Traditional day camp is located on 1200 acre site on Lake Bertram and Long Lake in Monticello, MN. Free bussing available from Albertville, Big Lake, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Elk River, Golden Valley, Maple Grove, New Hope, Plymouth and Rogers

Homeschool P.E.

YMCA Homeschool Physical Education is designed to help K-12 homeschool students learn the importance of healthy living through sports and aquatics activities. From September through May, the program follows a comprehensive curriculum that includes instruction in six sports, gym games, fitness skills and pool activities. YMCA Homeschool P.E. is a great place to meet new friends, create long lasting relationships and learn about the importance of healthy living.

Arts and humanities classes

Encourage expression in creativity with enrichment classes for kids. These classes are only offered during select times throughout the year. Contact Member Services at 763-230-2800 for more info.

Family Gym Time

Family Gym time is a drop-in time for members with children up to 10 years old to have fun, get some energy out and play together in our Kids-only Gym. We have a Playscape structure for ages 3+, along with other weekly activities such as climbing structures, sports balls, ride-ons, slides and more. Parent/guardian supervision is required for all participating children.

Socks required for 3 years and up to use the Playscape.

Members only. Ages 6 weeks – 10 years. Playscape – Ages 3 – 10 years.

Not offered during the summer months

  • Mondays: 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Safe Sitter Classes

Safe Sitter®, an up-to-date and well-rounded youth development program with a medical basis, teaches youth between the ages of 11 and 14 everything they need to know to keep themselves and the children in their care safe. The nationally-recognized, pediatrician-developed program includes child care techniques, basic first aid, rescue techniques (like choking infant and child rescue), babysitting as a business, and online and cellphone safety.

Fee: $66 for members, $78 for non-members for Safe Sitter® (1-day with CPR) includes The Official Safe Sitter® Babysitter’s Handbook
