When you visit our Healthy Living Kitchen, you’ll get connected with nutritionists and health/wellness professionals that are excited to share how food can be used to benefit your body—whether it’s to boost energy, fight inflammation or reduce stress.
Cooking classes will give you (and your family) an opportunity to learn from nutritionists and health/wellness professionals that are excited to share how food can be used to benefit your body. Our certified cooking facilitators will guide the class through the preparation of a full meal, with the option for participants to assist in prepping the food. You’ll leave the class with a small sample of food you learned to prepare and the recipes used during class for reference.

- Registration required: $10 for members, $15 for non-members

Come shop with Amy, Forest Lake YMCA’s nutritionist and learn how to shop clean and lean! We will meet at the Forest Lake Cub Foods Produce department at 11:30am. ($5.00 per member; $10.00 per nonmember)

Carrot & Sweet Potato Soup & Jar Salads (Vegan)- Friday, January 11th at 11:30am with Christa
This creamy and gingery carrot and sweet potato soup is vegan and made with just 8 ingredients. The sweet potatoes give the soup a creamy texture so you don’t need to add any cream or milk! Perfectly paired with a salad prepped in a jar along with homemade vinaigrette dressing.
Savory Quinoa Breakfast Bowls & Kombucha Mocktails (GF)- Sunday, January 13th at 10am with Amy and Tuesday, January 15th at 11:30am with Amy
A hearty breakfast bowl filled with nutty quinoa, soft-boiled eggs, sautéed kale and tomatoes, creamy avocado and a dollop of Greek yogurt. Great for breakfast, brunch or even dinner. Enjoyed with immune boosting, probiotic rich Kombucha Mocktails.
Lightened Up Shepherd’s Pie & Protein Powder Truffles (GF) -Tuesday January 22nd at 11:30am with Amy
Give a healthy spin in your traditional shepherd's pie recipe by making it with mashed cauliflower. This Mashed Cauliflower Shepherd’s Pie is very filling, low-carb, gluten-free, paleo-friendly and the most important very DELICIOUS! Naturally sweet and protein rich truffles will follow for dessert.

This super tender and flavorful chicken breast is stuffed with mozzarella cheese, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, basil and spices. Served with savory roasted beets.
Instant Pot Pho Ga with Zoodles & Spring Rolls (GF)- Tuesday, January 29th at 11:30am with Amy
Pho Ga is a healthy and nourishing Vietnamese chicken noodle soup. Our Instant Pot version contains spiralized zucchini noodles (“zoodles”), chicken (“ga”) and is topped with lime wedges, bean sprouts and herbs. While our soup is cooking, we will make fresh spring rolls filled with your choice of protein, vegetables, herbs and peanut sauce on the side.

Have a hassle-free birthday party
Celebrate your child’s birthday at the Y with a Cooking Party—and we’ll handle all the details for the special day. Kids will learn about tasty, nourishing foods with age-appropriate group cooking activities, plus get a primer on kitchen safety. There will be time to enjoy the prepared food together, and open presents too. Birthday parties allow you to pick the food and whether you’d like to include an additional art or fitness activity at the Y.

Healthy Living Kitchen Private Rental
The Healthy Living Kitchen is a great way to get your friends together for a cooking session, pump up a team or enjoy family time together without creating a mess at home. Choose between basic kitchen rentals bringing your own food or facilitator led private cooking classes where we provide the food. Both options are limited to two hours and include a certified cooking facilitator. The facilitator led private cooking class guides your group through the preparation of a meal, with the opportunity for participants to assist in prepping the food. Participants will leave with a small sample of the meal you learned to prepare and the recipes used for reference. Groups are limited to 15 people or less. View brochure
