Meditation is a self-care practice that allows you to transform how the mind reacts or relates to the world. Through practicing nonjudgment of thoughts, feelings and sensations—decrease stress and anxiety, develop emotional regulation, strengthen intuition and build awareness about a greater peace of mind. What to expect

Wear clothing that you are comfortable in—this could be what you’re wearing during the workday, casual clothes or yoga pants. 

There’s no need to bring a yoga mat or bolster to a meditation session—the George Wellbeing Center provides everything you’ll need.

During a session, your meditation instructor may use a variety of meditation techniques, including:

  • Guided imagery
  • Breath work 
  • Seated meditation 
  • Laying meditation 
  • Walking meditation
  • Soundbath meditation
  • Gentle movements

Integrate mindfulness into your daily life by working individually with an extensively trained instructor.

  • For your first time, schedule a 60-minute Foundation Session, which will result in a personalized Wellbeing Plan: $60/$54 for Y members
  • Follow-up 60-minute session: $60/$54 for Y members
  • Follow-up 30-minute session: $30/$27 for Y members
  • Follow-up 15-minute session: $15/$14 for Y members

Attend a group session

Singing bowl meditation

A singing bowl meditation uses the pure tones of quartz crystal bowls to guide the body into deeper states of calm as you sit or recline quietly. Because the sustained notes serve as anchors for mind chatter, a singing bowl meditation can be a great starting point for those newer to meditation.
